Klorane Desert Date Range Review

Continuing on Monday’s theme of winter restoring treatments, I thought we could talk about haircare today. Having a deeply hydrating routine is super important to maintain the health of your hair, especially during colder months and if you live in a hard water area or if your air is naturally dry. I have been a fan of Klorane products for years now so today I wanted to talk about their Desert Date range.

First of is the Desert Date Shampoo, unlike the ones from many brands this one actually has a thicker and slightly creamy consistency making it more nourishing from the get go. The formula lathers really well and even though it feels richer, it does not leave a residue in the hair. It does contain sodium laureth sulfate but it doesn’t irritate my scalp or dry out my hair. I used to go for products without sulfate but I couldn’t find a line that could combat the really hard water in England and give me soft and shiny hair.

The Conditioning Balm is the conditioner I use after the shampoo, it feels like a super thick cream and that melts to really penetrate the hair and nourish it. Because it is so rich, I found I had to use less than I would a normal conditioner so I would be careful the first time I use it or it can weight your hair down a bit. Like all the products in the line it has a caramel-like scent, it does not linger too much in the hair but I personally don’t like the smell of caramel so for me this was not a plus.

Lastly there is the Desert Date Mask, the most nourishing product of the range which I typically used once a week after using a clarifying shampoo. Those types of shampoos can be very stripping on the lengths of your hair so this mask was great to really restore the moisture balance. I particularly enjoyed applying it to the lengths before shampooing so it would serve as protective shield. The cream texture makes it easy to apply, it doesn’t drip everywhere, and you don’t have to use much so it should last you a while.

I would definitely recommend this range if you have medium to coarse hair that is in need of a lot of moisture. It might be too much if you have fine hair, though you might enjoy the mask as long as you are mindful of how much you use.

The Klorane Desert Date range is available at most drugstores and you can have a look on their website to see where to find it in your country.

Klorane Floral Water Make-up Remover Review

With Halloween and party season fast approaching I thought it would be the perfect time to talk about the essential skincare item you need to see you through your nights out. Whether it’s after a party or a very long day, you might not feel like removing your makeup but it is so important to do so to keep your skin looking its best. This is why I always have a bottle of cleansing water in my room to make sure that no matter how tired I am, my makeup will come off before I go to bed. I need something that works well to make sure the process is easy and quick, which is why I have been loving the Klorane Floral Water Make-up Remover.

This made in France cleansing water from Klorane is amazing, it is fragrance-free and alcohol-free so it is super gentle on the skin. I found it removes both base and eye makeup quickly and it does not irritate my eyes at all which is great because most eye makeup remover sting my eyes. However, what I love most about it is that it doesn’t leave any residue on my skin which some cleansing waters do. I still rinse my face after using it (maybe double cleanse if I have enough energy) but I would feel comfortable not doing so if I had to.

Klorane, being a French pharmacy brand, the Floral Water Make-up Remover is super affordable and the large bottle should last you quite a long time. I have already repurchased it, so it has become a staple in my skincare collection.

The Klorane Floral Water Make-up Remover is available from many drugstores and on the Klorane website

Caudalie Weekend Haul

I have a little Caudalie haul for you today. I went to one of my favorite drugstores with my mom over the weekend and had a lovely time shopping. Unlike the other drugstores near me this one has a Caudalie counter and there stocks (in all brands) are really up to date, so it’s always fun to have a browse. Over the past months, I have been mostly using organic and natural products, but I couldn’t resist picking up a few things from Caudalie. I love their branding and packaging, it seemed perfect for spring!

I was actually planning on getting another soap from them but they did not have any left and I think it has been discontinued, hopefully they’ll bring it back in the future. I decided to turn to their shower gels as a replacement, I really enjoyed the Pêche de Vigne shower gel in the past but this time I went for the Thé des Vignes one. It has a richer, warmer scent that is very pleasant. Honestly they all smell incredible and I plan on working my way through them all.

Next is the Lip Conditioner, I couldn’t leave without getting a new one of these. This is one of my all-time favorite lip balms, it makes the top 3 easily. It’s very moisturising and nourishing but the finish isn’t too glossy. My lips just love it and it is quite affordable for such a great product. Also (not that is really matters) it smells amazing, kind of sweet and fruity.

Lastly I got a new Grape Water Spray, I have run out of my other facial mists and this one is super refreshing. Unlike other mists that are just water, the Grape Water actually adds a bit of moisture and does not dry your skin has it evaporates. The mist itself is very fine so you can use it over makeup and it just feels lovely. I really enjoy using it to wake me up if I do a lot of work on the computer.

All the products I have mentioned are available on the Caudalie website and at their counters

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution

I feel like we are quite lucky beauty-wise here in Canada, many French-pharmacy and European brands are readily available and we also get new American products quite quickly. And let’s not even mention Sephora and all the Asian beauty stores you can go to in bigger cities. I feel very fortunate that I can go to pretty much any drugstore and pick up a bottle of the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution. I know this product is quite difficult to come by depending on your location so I wanted to give my two cents on it so you can decide whether it is worth hunting down for yourself.

I won’t beat around the bush: this micellar water is one of the most amazing products I have ever used. It is my favorite makeup remover (along with my Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil) because it just works so well and is super-efficient. You simply pour some onto a cotton pad and gently wipe it around your face and eyes. It removes all your makeup, though mascara and eyeliner included, without causing any irritation or redness. It’s like magic really, and I love how it gets the job done quickly so you can move on to a second cleanse or other steps of your routine.

Unlike other micellar water, the Bioderma one does not leave any residue or stickiness behind, making it perfect to take with you on a plane to cleanse and refresh your face when you cannot do a proper cleanse. It also makes for a life-saver when you’ve had a long day/night and you get home very late: with it you have no excuse not to remove your makeup and I promise your skin will thank you in the morning.

The BiodermaSensibio H2O Micelle Solution comes in many different sizes from the large one with a pump all the way to the travel-friendly mini bottles. Depending on your location you can find it on Feelunique and Bioderma also offers international websites with store locators for your convenience. In the US it is exclusive to Beautylish.
