Klorane Desert Date Range Review

Continuing on Monday’s theme of winter restoring treatments, I thought we could talk about haircare today. Having a deeply hydrating routine is super important to maintain the health of your hair, especially during colder months and if you live in a hard water area or if your air is naturally dry. I have been a fan of Klorane products for years now so today I wanted to talk about their Desert Date range.

First of is the Desert Date Shampoo, unlike the ones from many brands this one actually has a thicker and slightly creamy consistency making it more nourishing from the get go. The formula lathers really well and even though it feels richer, it does not leave a residue in the hair. It does contain sodium laureth sulfate but it doesn’t irritate my scalp or dry out my hair. I used to go for products without sulfate but I couldn’t find a line that could combat the really hard water in England and give me soft and shiny hair.

The Conditioning Balm is the conditioner I use after the shampoo, it feels like a super thick cream and that melts to really penetrate the hair and nourish it. Because it is so rich, I found I had to use less than I would a normal conditioner so I would be careful the first time I use it or it can weight your hair down a bit. Like all the products in the line it has a caramel-like scent, it does not linger too much in the hair but I personally don’t like the smell of caramel so for me this was not a plus.

Lastly there is the Desert Date Mask, the most nourishing product of the range which I typically used once a week after using a clarifying shampoo. Those types of shampoos can be very stripping on the lengths of your hair so this mask was great to really restore the moisture balance. I particularly enjoyed applying it to the lengths before shampooing so it would serve as protective shield. The cream texture makes it easy to apply, it doesn’t drip everywhere, and you don’t have to use much so it should last you a while.

I would definitely recommend this range if you have medium to coarse hair that is in need of a lot of moisture. It might be too much if you have fine hair, though you might enjoy the mask as long as you are mindful of how much you use.

The Klorane Desert Date range is available at most drugstores and you can have a look on their website to see where to find it in your country.

Korres Almond and Linseed Conditioner Review

My quest for perfect haircare products is still ongoing, the combination of humidity and very hard water in the U.K. makes my hair behave differently than at home, and while I haven’t found miracle workers yet, certain products might just be what you are looking for. The Korres Almond and Linseed Conditioner for dry and damaged hair being one of them.

Let me preface this review by saying that my hair is not damaged or particularly dry (I don’t color it), but a combination of factors in the U.K. leaves my hair feeling a bit frizzy and like it needs more moisture. This conditioner delivers on all fronts, it has a thick and rich texture that really coats the hair and I liked that it is free of silicones. It has a pleasant sweet almond scent that is quite strong, so I you are sensitive to scents or don’t enjoy this kind of scent I would recommend you look for something else as it does linger in the hair.

I enjoyed using this conditioner, however it was a bit much for my hair (again I wasn’t the targeted hair type) and I had to be careful to only use a small amount or it would weight down my hair. That being said, it think this could be quite good for someone that has very dry hair, you know the kind that just drinks up heavier products. While I will not repurchase it, I did use mine up and I will have a look at the other Korres conditioners in the future.

The Korres Almond and Linseed Conditioner is available from a variety of retailers including Feelunique, Lookfantastic and the Korres website of course.

Saavy Natural Natural and Organic Color Protector Jasmine Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Let’s talk haircare today! Finding good natural and organic soaps and body lotions is actually not that difficult but shampoo and conditioner are another story. Thankfully, Saavy Naturals comes to the rescue with their amazing Natural and Organic ColorProtector Jasmine Shampoo and Conditioner.

This line has been formulated for color treated hair to help your color last longer by protecting it from UV rays. I don’t actually dye my hair but I love the scent of their jasmine line so much I just had to give these products a try. Well they smell amazing, truly my favorite jasmine scent ever. Obviously I cannot comment on their color protecting properties but I love how they made my hair look.

For a sulfate-free shampoo, it lathers up really nicely so it cleans your hair well and is easy to wash off.  Other ingredients in the shampoo and conditioner include argan, kukui and moringa oil as well as calendula, marshmallow and lady’s mantle extract. Now after using the shampoo I was a bit taken aback because my hair didn’t feel very soft. It wasn’t dry but it felt deeply cleansed so I move on to the conditioner and again it felt very different from regular conditioners. It is quite light and my hair just drank it up, it was instantly absorbed and it didn’t feel like anything was left on my hair (like it wasn’t coated). Honestly, by that point I was a bit nervous because I was afraid my hair would just feel brittle and dry once it was dry.

Well I was wrong, this duo gave me the airiest, lightest feeling hair I have ever had and it made it super luminous. My hair felt soft and it reflected light in a really beautiful way. It doesn’t look like there is a ton of product on it to make it shiny, it’s more like your hair is really smooth and it reflects light, which is why I say it looks luminous and not glossy. I don’t know if someone with very dry hair would get enough moisture from these, but I know I will definitely repurchase them in the future, this is a wonderful duo and I love how the formulas are 100% natural and contain some organic ingredients.

The Saavy Naturals Natural and Organic Color Protector Jasmine Shampoo and Conditioner are available on their website and they can found in many health food stores.
