Dior Addict Lip Maximizer Review

I’m really happy lip glosses are making a comeback because they have always been one of my favorite makeup items. With so many colors and formulas on the market picking the perfect one can be difficult, which is why I thought it would be a good idea to talk about the perfect classic lip gloss: the Dior Addict LipMaximizer.

I have been fortunate enough to gather many samples of it over the years so I haven’t had to buy the full size one, but I definitely plan on doing so before Christmas. This lip gloss is the perfect staple to keep in your makeup bag, it gives great shine but isn’t gloopy or sticky. The texture is on the thicker side but it just feels cushiony on the lip, making them look plumper. I think this is where the maximizer term comes from because there is no unpleasant tingling sensation upon application. It contains collagen and hyaluronic fillers that will make your lips smoother according to the brand.

The gloss itself has a very light pink tint but it doesn’t alter the color of other lip products you might use under it. I quite like it on its own as well because it enhances my natural lip color, which is always nice. Now I know this technically shouldn’t matter since the actual product is great, but I love the Dior packaging on both the mini and the full size versions. It looks chic and luxurious which is really nice for such a classic item. I think this is the perfect product if you are looking to give lip gloss another chance or simply if you want a good quality product to use daily that will not let you down.

The Dior AddictLip Maximizer is available at all Dior counters as well as online from Dior and websites like Feelunique.

Dior Airflash CC Primer

Dior is my biggest luxury weakness, I mean their packaging truly is luxurious and their products usually have great textures so they are fun to apply. I also love Givenchy makeup but for some reason I just cannot resist a little Dior. Today I have a review of the very unique Dior Airflash CC Primer, an innovative spray-on face primer.

This primer contains Photo-Smart Pigments™ and is supposed to even out the skin, color correct, brighten as well as make your foundation easier to apply and last longer. A pretty tall order if you ask me. Well good news is, on my skin at least, it does fulfil most of its promises. The spray is very fine and I can’t feel it on my face, but results are there. While I don’t see much color correcting it leaves my skin looking more luminous (like it’s lit from within) and that brightness does make my skin a bit more even. The effects are not an in your face glow, it is more subtle while also being slightly blurring. The Airflash CC Primer gives my face a lovely satin finish that makes applying foundation over it a dream. The skin feels very soft and smooth with it on. I also noticed my foundation does last longer when I use the primer even though it does not offer a lot of shine/oil control.

Another reason I really enjoy using this is its scent, it just smells amazing! The one down side of this primer for is that it contains silica, I know most people are fine with it but my skin does not agree with it (at least it’s seems to be a common denominator in product that break me out or make my skin bumpy). Because of this I cannot use it every day but it has not stopped me from spraying it on for special occasions or when I want a subtle boost of radiance.

Now I highly recommend testing it out at a Dior counter before purchasing it, because it is expensive and people seem to be quite divided about it. Is this something you need in your life? Probably not, but it is a fun product and I do enjoy using it, so it is worth having a look at if you are looking for something different from your everyday primer.

The Dior Airflash CC Primer is available at Dior counters, Sephora and Feelunique.

Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl

Who does not love a good mascara? I personally think the drugstore has loads of great offerings, but like everyone else I feel the appeal of high-end mascaras with their beautiful packaging and compelling ads. That being said I always feel a bit guilty spending a lot on mascara, see my eyes are very sensitive so I can rarely finish a tube and obviously no one likes to throw away something you spent good money on. This is why I love buying minis from Sephora or getting samples from my favorite counters. As you might know, Dior is my favorite luxury brand so I was beyond excited when I received a mini Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara as part of a gift with purchase.

The original Diorshow Iconic is a favorite mascara of mine and I love curved mascara brush, making the Overcurl version a must try on my list. The combination of the brush and formula is supposed to give great volume and really curl your lashes. The formula is on the drier side which I love, it makes applying it to finer lashes super easy and the black color is nicely pigmented. The curved brush really follows the contour of your eyes, so it really helps define them by separating every lash and the application is easy.

Now for the results, I got lots of volume with this and because the formula is drier the volume looks like your lashes are naturally bigger instead of giving you a wet clumpy look. As for the curling power, it does initially lift your lashes but the effect did not last for long on me. By the end of the day the curl had dropped, but the volume was still present and helped keep my eyes defined. I think my lashes might be too fine for the formula, but if you have thicker lashes or can handle slightly heavier mascaras I think you might like this. The volume you get is impressive enough so I would give it a try if the opportunity comes up or if you can get a mini tube.

The Dior Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara is available from any Dior counter, the Dior website,  Sephora and Feelunique

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Ever since I fell in love with the Dior Crème de Rose Lip Balm, I have been trying to find other products that can compare. So far, nothing has even come close to the perfection of Dior, but a new product recently caught my eye. Laneige has been known for years for its incredible Water Sleeping Mask and they have now released a Lip Sleeping Mask. I love a good lip treatment so as soon as it was released I knew I had to put it to the test.

This mask contains a berry complex to deliver a strong dose of antioxidants to your lips and it is also formulated with Laneige’s powerful Moisture WrapTM. It is designed to be applied at night before you go to bed and will leave you with soft and hydrated lips come morning. It has a lovely strawberry scent and has a pretty light pink color. The pot also comes with a cute pink spatula to allow you to scoop out and apply the mask while being hygienic.

Every time I wake up after using this, my lips feel soft and hydrated. It really improves the appearance of your lips, they look fuller and you cannot see any dehydration lines. This is marketed as something you use at night, but I love using this during the day. It looks very glossy on the lips and it instantly makes your lips look softer and plumper. I also love that, as I wear it through the day, my lips will look better instead of getting dry and dehydrated. I wouldn’t apply a lipstick over it because of its finish, but it looks really pretty over a stain or on its own.

Now how does it compare to the Dior balm? Well both have a waxy texture in the pot, but they both turn into a super glossy cream once applied to the lips. I would say the Laneige is equally as softening as the Dior one, however the Dior is more nourishing and slightly more hydrating. So far, I can safely say that the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is the closest product to the Dior Crème de Rose, it gives amazing results and while it is not at the level of the Dior, it is less expensive and you get more product. Both are incredible lip treatments, so choosing one really comes down to availability and your budget, but rest assured, I’m sure you will enjoy both.

You can get the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask from any laneige counter as well as from Asian beauty stores and websites (like YesStyle) that carry the brand. I got mine on Ebay from a reputable seller.

Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen

A traveller’s must-have, the best friend of anyone working long hours or studying late into the night, yes I’m talking about an under eye brightener. The market is full of products that promise to illuminate your eyes and make dark circles disappear, but I find that you often only get one or the other. You either get coverage or an illuminator so sheer it won’t do much on its own. However I have found a game-changer in the Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen.

This is the perfect balance between a concealer and an illuminator. It is pigmented enough to cover-up dark circles and the illuminating particles in brighten your under eye area, making you look even more well rested. The effect is quite subtle, there is no shimmers or glitters here, but it somehow manages to make a world of a difference.

The formula is a light cream so it is super easy to blend and it doesn’t crease. Depending on the shade you pick (there are four), you can also use it to illuminate other areas of your face just like you would with a highlighter. I have the lightest yellow-toned shade (002 Candle Light) and on my very fair skin it works really well as a concealer but it does not do much in the highlighting department. If you have a bit more color than me (which shouldn’t be hard), than you could easily use it for both.

I absolutely love this product and I know I will be purchasing it again. Yes it is more expensive than other products being from Dior, but the formula is so incredibly worth it. You can get the Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen from their website, at any Dior counter as well as from Sephora and Feelunique

Dior Backstage Eye Prime

I think it is fair to say from past articles that I don’t like talking about products I don’t like and today’s item is not bad or anything but I’m a bit disappointed in it. Dior is my favorite high-end brand but their Backstage Eye Prime has left me a bit perplexed.

Basically, this is a flesh-toned cream eyeshadow primer that is supposed to extend the wear and intensity of your eye makeup, turning your eyes into a perfect canvas. I loved it when I first got it, my shadows lasted all day with no creasing and unlike other primers, its drier texture made it super easy to blend my makeup. The thing is, now it does not prevent my makeup from creasing anymore. I’m not sure what happened, maybe my lids are oilier or it’s because the formula dried out a bit. That’s another thing, you have to be careful to really tightly screw the lid back in its place otherwise the formula will dry out. Luckily, I was able remove it from the pot and put it back upside-down so I can use the bottom half that was still fresh.

Now, the primer does not perform exactly like it used to but there is something it’s still great at: color-correcting my lids. I have very fair skin and as such the skin on my eyes is quite thin so you can see little veins. The Dior primer has a very natural skin tone color that I can blend to cover up the veins and perfectly even out my eyes, making them look brighter and more awake. I love using this on days when I don’t want to wear any eye makeup, but still want to look well rested.

The formula of this is very dry so you do need to warm it up on your fingertip to make it easier to apply. Some might not like this, but the matte finish it gives to the skin is more natural looking and since it doesn’t leave your eyelids tacky, your eyeshadows will blend more easily and without dragging. Honestly, I don’t know if I would recommend this product as a primer (mostly because it’s expensive) since I can’t guaranty its effect in the long run. However, if you are looking for a corrector the Backstage Eye Prime is great and who knows, yours might be efficient at keeping your makeup in place too.

You can get the Dior Backstage Eye Prime from their website and at any of their Counters. It is also available from Sephora and Feelunique.

Dior Addict Lipstick Tie-Dye Edition in Coral Trip

As promised, I finally have a review to give you on the Dior Addict Lipstick Tie-Dye Edition in Coral Trip. Honestly I wanted to write the review sooner, but for some reason it did not happen. I feel like I’m suffering from a bit of writer’s block so hopefully my self-imposed writing afternoon will be productive. Now let’s get to the good part.

I absolutely love Dior lipsticks, the packaging is beyond gorgeous and everything you would expect from a high-end product. I mean if you are spending a pretty penny on a lipstick you want it to look good too because it adds to the experience and luxury. Coral trip is a gorgeous coral color that manages to be perfectly balanced, it’s not too pink or orange. The center of the bullet has the CD logo engraved in a darker coral color and surprisingly it runs all the way through the bullet. This shows real attention to details because companies that do something like this usually do it as a superficial layer, like a shimmery overspray on a powder.

The Dior Addict Tie-Dye Edition lipsticks come in six colors but coral trip is my absolute favorite. It brightens your complexion and looks perfect for spring and summer. I don’t usually wear coral, I find the perfect shade can be hard to find so I love how this one is truly coral without being too dark or bright. The formula is very creamy so you do get a bit of shine but they are not glossy. Also, it lasts very well on the lips and it does not leave them dry. In a pinch, it also makes for a great blush. This is quite a unique release from Dior and I would highly recommend you have a look at them. Coral trip is a must-have in my book, but the other colors are gorgeous too.

You can find the Dior Addict Lipstick Tie-Dye Edition in Coral Trip for a limited time on the Dior website and at any of their counters. It is also available from Feelunique

Dior Sunwashed Nail Lacquer

Ever since the promo images for Dior’s Tie-Dye collection were released, I could not stop thinking about the Sunwashed Nail Lacquer. The pastel yellow shade was calling my name. Now, after months of waiting and wanting, I finally managed to get my hands on this gorgeous shade.

Dior nail polishes are my favorite, the formula is out of this world, I’m talking high-shine and super quick dry time without a top coat. All that aside, the wear time is equally impressive with about five days of chip-free polish (more or less depending on what you are doing). Sunwashed does require three coats for a perfectly opaque creamy finish, but don’t worry the application is still quick because you don’t have to wait long between coats.

Now about the color, to me Sunwashed is this year Porcelaine (reviewed here). The sky blue shade is what I wore for most of the spring and summer last year and it is still one of my favorites. Sunwashed is equally as unique, a light pastel buttery yellow color with a bit of a white base so it does not look too yellow or have a green tint. Obviously it depends on your skin tone, but I think it is super flattering and also natural. It is not in your face bright so it is very versatile and perfect for spring. Honestly just looking at it makes me happy and what could be a better addition to your collection than a polish that will make you smile every time you see it.

The Dior Sunwashed Nail Lacquer is currently available for a limited time from any Dior counter and online as well as from Sephora and Feelunique

Dior Tie-Dye Summer Collection Haul and Sneak Peek

Hello everyone, today I just wanted to bring you a quick haul and sneak peek into upcoming reviews. Yesterday I went to the Dior counter and let’s just say I could not resist their new Tie-Dye summer collection, it is so beautiful. I only got two things but the eyeshadow palettes were very hard to leave behind.

The one thing I really wanted from the collection was the Sunwashed nail polish, a lovely pastel yellow color. To me this is a must-have because it is so unique and the Dior nail polish formula is my all-time favorite.

I also could not resist the Dior Addict Lipstick Tie-Dye Edition in Coral Trip. I was looking for a new coral lipstick and this one just has the perfect shade. I love the Dior Addict finish because they have the perfect balance of creaminess and shine.

This is hands down my favorite summer collection out of all the new releases. It’s fun and colorful while still being wearable. I urge you all to have a look at it because Dior has done it again!

You can have a look at the entire Tie-Dye collection on the Dior website here and it is currently available at all Dior counters, Feelunique and Sephora for a limited time only.

Dior Rouge Dior Couture Lipstick in Carré d’Or

When it comes to beauty there’s a brand that never fails to impress me and its name is Dior. Every collection they release is a test to my restraint and decision making process, everything is just so beautiful.  So when Dior released limited edition lipsticks to go with their newly formulated eyeshadow palettes last fall, I convinced myself I didn’t need another lipstick, but one of them stayed on my mind. So you can imagine my delight when my mom surprised me with the Rouge Dior Couture Lipstick in Carré d’Or.

This shade is unlike anything I own, it’s a peach nude with a gold frost that doesn’t wash me out and just looks spectacular with a tan. The formula is great, it’s long-lasting and non-drying which is a rare combination. It doesn’t offer a lot of moisture but it’s very comfortable for a lipstick that’s not glossy or not overly creamy. As for the packaging, it is as chic as always and feels luxurious, which is something I associate with all Dior products.

Carré d’Or makes a great nude if you have fair skin because the peachy tones add color and brighten up your face instead of looking like you’ve put concealer on your lips. I also think it looks great if you have a bit of a tan due to its golden undertones but I’m not sure how well it would work if you have a darker skin tone.  This is quite a unique color so I would recommend having a look at in person before buying it. The rest of the Rouge Dior Couture lipstick range offers a very nice color selection and is also definitely worth having a look.

The Dior Rouge Dior Couture Lipstick in Carré d’Or is limited edition, but it is still available from Sephora online and you might be able to find it at Dior counters.

Soap and Glory Flake Away

Soap and Glory is one of my favorite brands when it comes to body products, everything they make smells great and all their names are super clever. Today I present to you Flake Away, a body scrub that contains sugar, peach seed powder and shea butter to leave your skin soft and hydrated.

I bought the travel size version and I loved it. The scrub really buffs away dead skin cells, but it is doesn’t feel harsh or abrasive on your skin. The sugar actually has a moisturizing effect as it melts on your skin with the friction and combined with the shea butter it contains, your skin is left baby soft. I really enjoy how efficient it was without leaving any oil or greasy residue on my skin. As for the scent, it has the typical Soap and Glory scent which reminds me of a peachier version of Dior’s Miss Dior Chérie.

This is a lovely product that I would recommend to anyone looking for a good scrub. Also I think it’s great Soap and Glory offers so many travel size versions of their products has they're a great way of trialing products without committing to a full size bottle.

You can get Flake Away from Boots or online for £8.00 (£2.50 for the travel size) in the U.K. and Shoppers Drug Mart carries some Soap and Glory products in Canada.

Dior's Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in Météore

Bronze eyeshadows are said to enhance blue eyes, I find them to really just look orange on my very fair skin and the color does not really do much for my blue-grey eyes, except distract from them. The Dior’s Diorshow Fusion Mono eyeshadow in Météore (#661) is in my opinion the perfect bronze shadow. It has a golden sheen and there is definitely a copper tone to it, but what differentiate it from other shades and makes it so special is that the color is anchored in a brown base.

The base brown really makes this shade wearable, it doesn’t look orange or clash against my skin or eye color. The formula is described by Dior as a “gel-foam”, the texture feels kind of foam/mousse-like and it glides on very easily, which I assume is the gel part of the formula. It is a long-wearing shadow and last all day on me (I do use a primer underneath it), there is no fading.

I usually just apply it with my fingers, it is a very pigmented product so this allows me to get a sheer wash of color. Using a brush or the sponge applicator that comes with it will give you a more pigmented look (the sponge is great to use the product as a liner). The formula makes it very buildable so you can achieve different looks with it or go from day to night easily.

The Dior Fusion Mono shadows also come in a matte formula with neutral colors and the ones I have swatched were incredibly smooth and pigmented.

You can find it at Sephora for 33$ or at any Dior beauty counter.

Dior Porcelaine Nail Lacquer

When it comes to nail polish, I usually stick to neutrals or dark colors, but as soon as I saw the Dior Porcelaine (#204) nail polish, I knew I had to have it. Porcelaine was released along 3 other polishes as part of the Trianon collection for spring 2014.

This particular shade is a gorgeous baby blue with a cream finish, there’s not shimmer or glitter in it. Unlike some other blue polishes, it doesn’t have a green tinge and it has a brightness that is simply incredible, it’s very luminous. This screams spring to me, it’s such a beautiful pastel shade but it’s also completely unique at the same time (nothing boring there).

Dior polishes are great quality for the price, it lasted about 4 to 5 days without chipping and I was not wearing a base or top coat. The brush is wide and allows you to cover the entire nail in one swipe. As for the formula, I found it to be a bit streaky at first, but the 3rd coat gave me a smooth and even finish with nice shine. The formula dries very quickly so doing 3 coats isn’t a problem since you don’t have to wait long between coats.

I think this would make a perfect spring treat, it is sure to make you smile every time you look at it.

You can get it from any Dior counter or online from The Bay for 25$

Luxurious Lip Care: Dior Crème de Rose Lip Balm

Since the weather has been incredibly cold for the past few days, I thought I would share with you my thoughts on my all-time favorite lip balm: Dior’s Crème de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm. I discovered it over the summer after burning my lips pretty badly. None of my other lip balms could help ease the discomfort of severely cracked and peeling lips and I was starting to think I might need to see a doctor as they were not getting better.

After finding a small sample of the Crème de Rose balm in a Dior palette, I decided to give the full size a try even though the 29$ price tag did put me off.  However not only did it moisturize and plumped my lips (the smoothing Shea butter covers the lines on your lips making them look fuller), it actually healed them (I attribute that to the vitamin A and E it contains). I am currently on my third one and I do not think I could ever go without it.

Its light rose scent is very pleasant and it gives a very sheer pink tint to the lips that really enhances them. It has SPF 10 which is a good thing considering most of us forget to protect the delicate skin of our lips from the sun. It is very creamy and feels luxurious on the lips, not greasy and it has great staying power (great if you wear it on its own).
I cannot recommend this lip balm more, it is simply incredible.

You can find it the Dior Crème de Rose balm at Dior counters and Sephora for 29$.
